Jeans for Genes

On Friday, 21st September children in the Primary school from Playgroup to Year 6 celebrated “Jeans for Genes” day. This charity helps to improve the lives of children who have life-altering genetic disorders. Pupils generously donated 2€ to wear denim to school and we raised an amazing amount of 740€  which will go towards care, equipment and research. In PSHE and Science lessons children learned about genetic disorders which can affect a child in many different ways, younger children talked about similarities and differences between us. There are over 6,000 types of genetic disorder and 1 in 25 children are born with one. This can cause learning difficulties, epilepsy, loss of sight or hearing and in lots of cases chronic pain.

A huge thank you to all pupils and parents for supporting this important charity.
