This term Year 4 have been learning about living things and their habitats.
Last week, we had lots of fun looking more closely at the living things we have in our garden area.
After searching for a while, we found some insects and observed them with magnifying glasses. We made sure that we returned the insects to their habitat after carefully examining them!
I found a beetle!
When we returned to our classroom, we were able to classify the insects using a classification key. We also made some observational drawings of the insects. Then we worked in groups to magnify the insects by 3 or 4 times their size. Each member of the group took a section of an insect, magnified it and drew it carefully. Then we had to work together and put the pieces back together again!
It was tricky to match up the pieces!
Here are some examples of our work!
