Year 4

In Year 4, children become more settled with the routines of Key Stage 2. With this greater knowledge and experience, they are able to fully participate, with more independence, in school life.

It is during this year, that children are expected to have gained a secure knowledge of reading strategies and times tables. Children begin to take ownership of their learning, having had prior exposure to the class blog and a variety of software.

They need to make decisions on how to present work, how and when to complete homework and which methods aid their learning the most. As part of a new initiative, Year 4 have a business opportunity to participate in the planning and organisation of the school fair, where they can be creative in generating money for the school.

As well as enjoying the Inter-School’s Sports Day, they also dive in to activities at a water sports centre, take part in a local area study and visit the Science Museum.

The Spanish department also take the children to Cuenta Cuentos in Los Silos, where they listen to stories, riddles and poems in Spanish.
