At BIST we are aware of the fact that children who eat a healthy diet, study better and feel better in general. Our school meal program, available in both La Luz (Early Years and Primary School) and Realejos (Secondary School), aims to provide our students with healthy, nutritious meals.
Parents can enroll their children into the school meal program for a fee, or they can choose to send packed lunches with their children instead.
Our dining halls in La Luz and Realejos serve healthy lunches that are prepared onsite, which differentiates us from other Schools. A monthly menu is prepared by a nutritionist with wide experience in collective restoration (Aritz Mokoroa, Nº license: IC-00090), what represents one of our strengths too. Menus includes dinner recommendations to facilitate parents organization to active a balanced nutrition at School and at home. They are sent to the parents in advance. We encourage students from the age of two to eat fresh vegetables and fruit at each meal, serving this foods in Early Years in our snacks during the mornings, something that is appreciated by children and parents.
All our meals are prepared by our kitchen staff with vegetables and quality products from local agricultural stores. We cater for students with special dietary needs, including students with allergies or specific food intolerance, vegetarian students, and students whose diets are influenced by religious beliefs. We cook different foods in separate areas and try to provide a very individualized meal program, within the limits of possibility. Contact the school for more details.
