Header Afterschool Clubs
After School Clubs

The British International School of Tenerife offers a diverse array of afterschool clubs designed to cater to a wide range of interests and talents. These clubs are available for pupils from nursery through to Year 13, accommodating children aged 4 to 18 years. Please ask the School Office for specific timetables.

PRIMARY SITE AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

At our Primary Site, teachers offer a variety of engaging clubs aimed at enriching our students’ learning experiences. After the school day ends, students typically bring a snack to enjoy before their club activities, which usually run from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.

KARATE (Years 4-6)

Karate is perfect for those interested in martial arts and fitness, offering a supportive environment to learn basic techniques like punches, kicks, and blocks, develop practical self-defense skills, build discipline and self-control, improve overall physical fitness, and participate in friendly competitions and demonstrations.

BASKETBALL (Years 1-6)

Basketball is for students who love team sports, offering a fun environment to develop skills like dribbling, shooting, and passing, improve fitness and agility, build teamwork and communication, and participate in friendly matches and tournaments.

HOMEWORK CLUB (Years 3 & 4)

The Homework Club is ideal for students who want a quiet and supportive environment to complete their assignments. It offers a space where students can focus on their work, receive help from teachers and peers, and develop good study habits. This club is perfect for staying on top of schoolwork and improving academic performance.

HAMA BEADS (Years 1-6)

The Hama Bead Club is great for children who enjoy arts and crafts. It offers a creative space where students can design and create colorful bead patterns and projects. This club helps develop fine motor skills, encourages creativity, and provides a relaxing and enjoyable activity for students to express their artistic talents.

 

ROBOTICS (Years 3-6)

The Robotics Club is ideal for pupils interested in technology and engineering. It provides a hands-on environment where students can design, build, and program robots. This club helps develop problem-solving skills, encourages creativity, and offers opportunities to participate in competitions and showcase innovative projects.

YOGA (Years 1-6)

The Yoga Club is designed for students looking to improve their physical and mental well-being. It offers a calming environment where students can practice various yoga poses, enhance flexibility and strength, and learn relaxation techniques. This club promotes mindfulness, reduces stress, and supports overall health and wellness.

DRAMA TOTS (Nursery/Reception/Year1) by Mo Sands (Estrellas Theatre School)

Children can develop confidence, creativity, and self-esteem with Drama Tots, through interactive sessions that include singing, dancing, dramatic play, and the use of props and puppets.

Come and develop your creativity, teamwork, and communication skills in a fun and supportive environment!

MINECRAFT (Years 4-6)

With this club, children can explore the popular game Minecraft in a fun and educational setting. They work together on various projects, such as building virtual worlds, solving puzzles, and completing challenges. They learn important skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity while navigating the game’s blocky universe.

MATHS CLUB (Years 3 & 4)

The club aims to enhance their mathematical skills, boost their confidence, and foster a love for numbers. It’s a great opportunity for kids to learn new concepts, work collaboratively, and enjoy the exciting side of maths with friends.

GERMAN CLUB (YEARS 1-6)

This club offers a playful and supportive environment for kids to start learning a new language through fun games and activities.  They will learn basic German words and phrases, as well as explore cultural traditions.

SECONDARY SITE AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

At our Secondary Site, we offer a combination of student-led and teacher-led clubs, fostering both leadership and collaboration among our students:

Dungeons and Dragons

This club is perfect for students who love fantasy, storytelling, and role-playing games. Participants create characters and embark on adventures in a collaborative and imaginative setting. It’s a great way to develop creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Chess and Chill

This club offers a unique blend of strategic gameplay and relaxation. Students can enjoy playing chess, whether they’re beginners or experienced players, in a friendly and supportive environment. The “chill” aspect provides a space for students to unwind, socialize, and engage in light-hearted activities. It’s a perfect balance of mental stimulation and relaxation, helping students develop critical thinking skills while also having fun and making new friends.

From Screen to Stage by Mo Sands

Designed for students who are passionate about both film and theatre, this club offers a unique opportunity to explore the adaptation of screenplays into stage performances developing acting skills through rehearsals and performances, focusing on bringing characters to life in a live theatre setting.

YOGA

The Yoga Club is designed for students looking to improve their physical and mental well-being. Study Skills Club

This is a supportive group where students gather to enhance their academic abilities through workshops on time management, note-taking, and test preparation, as well as peer support and resource sharing. The club fosters motivation and accountability, helping students set and achieve academic goals, ultimately improving their performance and confidence.

English Club

At this club, students practice and improve their English language skills in a fun and interactive environment. Members engage in activities such as conversation practice, reading and discussing books or articles, and playing language games. The club often hosts events like debates, presentations, and cultural exchange sessions to enhance speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

Spanish Club

This club is designed to support students who are learning Spanish as an additional language. It provides a welcoming environment where members can practice their Spanish skills through various activities such as conversation practice, reading Spanish texts, and engaging in cultural events. The club often utilizes resources like bilingual word mats, flashcards, and interactive tools to enhance learning.

Coding/Web Design Club

Students participating in this club will build technical skills, create impressive web projects, and connect with others who share an interest in technology and design.

Guitar Club

A welcoming space for students of all skill levels who share a passion for playing the guitar. Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn the basics or an experienced player aiming to refine your skills, this club provides the perfect environment to grow as a musician.

Singing Club

The Singing Club is a vibrant community for students who love to sing. Whether you’re just starting out or have been singing for years, this club offers a fun and supportive environment to develop your vocal talents.
