Welcome to Secondary
Welcome to Pupil Voice

At the British International School of Tenerife, we ensure that students’ opinions, ideas, and feedback are not only heard but also acted upon, fostering a more inclusive and supportive school environment where every pupil feels valued.

We achieve this through our “You Said, We Did” procedure. This involves gathering students’ views via surveys, suggestion boxes, school council meetings, and direct conversations. We then identify common themes and areas for improvement, create an action plan, and implement the necessary changes.

Here are some examples of our latest achievements:

  • Year 6 Girls’ Football Matches: Year 6 girls requested timetabled playtime for girls-only football matches, and we implemented it immediately.
  • PE Hoodies: Secondary pupils wanted hoodies as part of their PE uniform. We collected their designs and are pleased to offer this new clothing item.
  • Friendship Bench: During Anti-Conflict Week, school counselors suggested creating a friendship bench for those who need a friend to play with at playtimes.
  • Playground Games: Students wanted more playground games like football nets, board games, soft balls, and hula hoops. They organized a Halloween disco to raise funds, sold hot cocoa and candy at Christmas, and are planning a Valentine’s disco to continue raising money and socializing.
  • Recycling Bins: Our Eco Warriors introduced big recycling bins in different areas of the school to ensure we are classifying our rubbish and learning the basic skills to achieve the 2030 goals.
  • Inter-House Sports Competitions: In response to secondary pupils’ requests, we now hold inter-house sports competitions every term, in addition to our annual Sports Day.
  • School Logo and Empowering Words: Students are currently designing their own school logo and have presented ideas for enhancing our school by writing empowering words on the staircases. We look forward to seeing these ideas come to life soon.

These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to creating a school environment where every student’s voice matters and contributes to continuous improvement.
