Phase 1 at the British International School of Tenerife belongs to The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). It is divided into three groups: playgroup, nursery, and reception. Children follow the Early Years Foundation Framework, prioritizing the development of the whole child.

There are seven key learning areas, split into three prime areas: personal, social, and emotional development, communication and language, and physical development. Additionally, there are four specific areas: literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design.

Our young learners, aged 18 months to 4 years, are taught primarily in English, with weekly Spanish sessions. The curriculum focuses on play-based learning, social development, and foundational skills, supporting early literacy, numeracy, and personal growth.
