Last Tuesday April 5th, the Year 10 PE students enjoyed a yoga lesson from our chemistry teacher, Laura Martínez. We started off with a theoretical class on the origins of yoga can be traced back more than 5000 years ago in India. She highlighted the mental as well as physical benefits of yoga and the fact that it improves strength, flexibility and balance. We finished with a practical part on respiration and some yoga postures like the Tadasana (the mountain) or the Virabadrasana I (the warrior I).
The students enjoyed the lesson and we would like to thank Miss Martínez for her time and wisdom. For those parents that are interested in yoga, Miss Martínez is a yoga instructor in a sports centre in Puerto de la Cruz. For more information: @lauramaryoga (Instagram).
