Year 5 have been studying plants in science this term and they have been having great fun investigating seeds and flowering plants. First, they dissected some flowers and seeds to learn more about their parts and functions. They also designed their own seed to show the adaptations required for the seed to be dispersed by wind, water, animals or by explosion. Then they carried out an investigation by making an exploding seed pod using a balloon to find out more about the tension created inside the pod and the behavior of the travelling seeds. some of their results were unexpected!
