Wednesday 15th of December, Bádminton Auria visited us for the second time this month. This time to offer a badminton workshop to our year 8 and 9 students during their PE lessons.
Miguel Barbado, player of the Spanish National Badminton Team helped us in this workshop. He has participated and won many championships and has trained at the Blume in Madrid (Training Centre for professional athletes) with Carolina Marín, our Spanish Olympic champion in Rio 2016. Miguel shared his professional knowledge with us in a fun and enjoyable way. He did some games with the students and taught the children interesting facts about the sport, such as the speed a shuttlecock can reach, which consists of an amazing world record of 493 km/h! This is the reason why Badminton is considered the fastest racket sport in the world.
We have been very lucky, yet again, to have had the expertise of a renowned badminton player and trainer like Miguel Barbado at our school, to not only show that sports are vital in our lives, but that a sport like badminton is a fun and enjoyable option for all ages.
For those students and parents interested in enjoying all that the sport has to offer, Bádminton Auria is located all around the island including Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla and Puerto de La Cruz amongst others.
