Once again, this year the BST has managed to set an example in the organization of activities by joining different campaigns that are on worldwide.
We put the spotlight on dyslexia, supporting the Spanish Dyslexia Platform, to raise awareness amongst our school community so that everyone can understand what it involves in having this neurodiversity – the challenges and the strengths!
Our students at Primary have been amazing! By using a specially designed alphabet by an individual with dyslexia, they have taken the challenge of cracking the code and experienced the feeling of how frustrating it can be to read this way.
They have also produced some awesome pieces of art by the Spanish painter, Pablo Picasso, who had dyslexia himself, culminating their work in an originally ensembled piece of the world-famous painting of Guernica.
On Friday, the 7th, we celebrated international Dyslexia Day, October 8th, when students and teachers joined the #GoRed campaign wearing something in red to support dyslexia all around the world!
At Secondary, students were given the tools to spread out the word about what it means to have dyslexia and all the amazing skills it can also bring with it, getting to know famous people with this neurodiversity, who despite their hard times at school, have succeeded later in life as any other person without this neurodiversity!
We are proud of the inclusion of our school, where we understand that diversity enriches us all!
Help us spread the word and put the spotlight on dyslexia wherever we may go!
THANK YOU, British School of Tenerife!
